Maillard Reaction Flavours
Cooking food began as a necessity. Early man discovered that heat could transform raw meat and vegetables into something safer and more nutritious.
Today, it has evolved into a practice that defines us as humans. Every meal is an occasion, whether it’s a celebration of a life changing event or simply a midweek meal with the family. It brings us together like no other aspect of our lives.
What once ensured survival has become a dynamic celebration of flavour, creativity, and the way we gather, indulge, and connect through food.
Our Mission
The Maillard reaction is the heart of cooking. It is a complex cascade of interactions between proteins, sugars and fats that happens when food is heated. The science of the Maillard reaction has been studied for decades and used by flavour scientists to create cooked flavours for use in consumer products. Our mission is to use that knowledge to create flavours that deliver on consumers’ love for cooked food. We work at the intersection of food science, culinary craft, and process chemistry.
We are inspired by real food — where it comes from, how it’s made and how it tastes. This ensures our products taste like cooking, not like chemistry.
We understand the chemistry of flavour, and we use this knowledge to create products that deliver impact as well as authenticity.
We are driven by creating value for our customers. Our products are designed to deliver real flavour impact in products that consumers love.
We founded MRP Ingredients with a purpose: to bring the incredible capability of Maillard reaction flavours to South Africa. We develop and manufacture all of our products locally: close to the market, close to our customers, adding real value.
